Docs / Monitoring modes / HTML mode

HTML mode

HTML mode compares the page’s source code, so you catch changes no one can see: meta tags, canonical links, structured data, tracking scripts or hidden fields.

  1. Choose HTML

On the task’s Settings tab, set Monitoring mode to HTML.

  2. Enter a CSS selector or XPath in Selector to compare only part of the source, for example head for meta tags or script[type="application/ld+json"] for structured data. Without one, the whole document is compared, which changes often on most sites.

  3. Save

    Click Update task.

SEO checks

Watching head on key pages is a simple way to notice when a title, description, canonical or robots tag changes after a release.
