Deactivate or remove a task
Deactivate a task to pause its checks and keep everything it has recorded. Remove it when you no longer need the task or its history.
| Action | What happens |
|---|---|
| Deactivate | No more checks run and no alerts are sent. Settings and past checks are kept, and you can activate the task again at any time. |
| Remove | The task and all of its checks are deleted permanently. This can’t be undone. |
Deactivate a task
-
Open the task in the editor
In Tasks, click the pencil (Edit task) at the end of the task’s row.
-
Choose Deactivate
On the Settings tab, click More options (the three dots at the top right) and choose Deactivate.

The task moves to Inactive tasks. Switch the list with the Live tasks picker next to the Tasks / Feed switch.

Activate it again
Open the task from Inactive tasks and choose Activate from the same More options menu. Checks resume on the task’s schedule.
When Monity paused a task
Monity sometimes pauses a task itself, for example on a Free plan when nobody on the account has used Monity for 30 days, or when every one of its recent checks failed. The owner gets an email, and the task panel says why in a yellow note, with what to do and Switch back on. Paused tasks are in Inactive tasks.
| The note says | What to do |
|---|---|
| Paused by Monity: nobody used Monity for 30 days | Switch it back on. Its settings and history are kept; a paid plan never pauses it this way. |
| Paused by Monity: its checks kept failing | Open the task, check the address and its steps, then switch it back on. A page behind a sign-in can be connected in the live browser. |
| Paused by the Monity team | Read the team’s note in the panel (and the email), change what it says, then switch it back on. |
Remove a task
Click the task’s row to open the task panel, click More (the three dots) and choose Remove task, then confirm. You can also choose Remove from the More options menu in the editor.

Several tasks at once
Tick the tasks in the list and use Deactivate or Delete in the bar that appears at the bottom. In Inactive tasks, the same bar offers Activate. On a narrow window the bar shows icons only; hover one to see its name.

You can also ask Monity AI, for example “pause the Pepper task” or “pause all my Amazon tasks”. It asks you to confirm in a card first.
If you only want fewer messages, leave the task active and switch off its channels instead. See Turn off alerts for a task.
