Element monitoring
The Element Monitoring feature in Monity.ai enables you to track changes within specific HTML elements on a web page, allowing for precise monitoring of content updates in targeted sections rather than scanning the entire page. This is particularly useful for tracking updates in sections such as prices, product descriptions, or any other specific data fields.
How to set up element monitoring
Follow these steps to set up element monitoring in Monity:
Create a new task
From your Workspace Dashboard, click on New task in the top-right corner to start a new monitoring task.
Enter the URL
In the Create new task screen, enter the URL of the web page where the element you want to monitor is located.
Select element monitoring mode
- Under Compare type, select Element as the monitoring mode. This allows Monity to focus specifically on changes within the selected HTML element.
- Red selector tool: Once Element monitoring is selected, a red selection tool will appear on the page preview. Use this tool to select the specific element on the page that you want to monitor.
Specify monitoring frequency and change threshold
- Frequency: Choose how often Monity should check the selected element for changes (e.g., every 3 hours).
- Change threshold: Define the threshold for detecting changes within the element. For example, you may set it to detect any change within the specified element, or specify a size threshold to avoid notifications for minor updates.
Add task name and label
- Task name: Give your task a unique and descriptive name (e.g., "Product price updates").
- Label: Add a label to categorize this task and keep your monitoring dashboard organized.
Start monitoring
Once all settings are configured, save the task. Monity will begin monitoring the selected element and will notify you when changes occur within that specific section.
Benefits of element monitoring
Element monitoring in Monity minimizes false alerts by focusing solely on the specified section of a web page, ignoring unrelated updates like ads, headers, or other layout changes. This feature is ideal for cases where you only need to monitor specific data fields, ensuring that you receive relevant alerts without unnecessary noise.
