How to interact with dropdowns using select automations?

The Select Automation feature in Monity allows you to automate the selection of options from dropdown menus on a webpage. This is particularly useful when monitoring content that changes based on different selections, such as filtering results on a site or updating content based on user inputs.

Open Automations settings:

  • Go to the Automations tab in your Monity monitoring setup.

Add a select action:

  • Click the + button to create a new automation step.

Automation

  • Choose Select from the dropdown menu.

Specify the dropdown element:

  • Click with a selector on the dropdown menu you want to interact with. This tells Monity which dropdown element to target.

Choose the option to select:

  • Specify the value or label of the option you want Monity to select. For example, if the dropdown contains a list of categories or filters, enter the exact text or value of the option you need.

Save and test:

  • Save your automation and use the preview function to ensure the correct option is being selected and that the content on the page updates accordingly.

When to use select automation

  • Filtering data: Automate the selection of filters to monitor different data views or results.
  • Navigating dropdown-based content: Useful for interacting with dropdown menus that reveal new content, such as location-based information or product categories.
  • Testing dynamic pages: Automate dropdown interactions to ensure all relevant content is accurately captured during monitoring.

By setting up Select Automation in Monity, you can automate complex interactions and ensure comprehensive monitoring of dynamic content, providing you with greater control over how pages are analyzed and tracked.
