How to monitor password-protected websites with type automation

Monity makes it simple to monitor password-protected websites using Type Automation. This feature allows you to input login credentials, such as your email and password, automating the login process so that Monity can access and monitor the content you need. By pairing Type Automation with Click Automation, you can navigate through login forms seamlessly.

Steps to set up type Automation

Enter the URL of the website

  • Begin by entering the URL of the website you want to monitor in Monity’s setup. 

Navigate to Automations:

  • Go to the Automations tab and create your first automation step.

Simulate clicking on the Email field

  • Use Click Automation to select the email input field.

Email Field

This simulates a click to focus on the email field, preparing it for text input.

Type Your Email or Username

  • Click the + button to add a new automation step.
  • Choose Type Automation from the dropdown and input your email or username. Monity will type this into the email field.

Simulate clicking on the Password Field

  • Add another Click Automation to activate the password input field, ensuring Monity is ready to type in your password.

Type your password

  • Add a new Type Automation and enter your Password. Make sure to select the 'private' input (eye icon). This will type your password into the activated field. 

Submit the login form

  • Use Click Automation once more to press the login button, completing the login process.

Start monitoring

  • After successfully logging in, select the specific pages or elements you wish to monitor. Monity will now have full access to the content behind the login screen.

Tip for successful automation

  • Use accurate selectors: Ensure you use the correct selectors for the email, password, and login button elements. Incorrect selectors can cause the automation to fail or miss essential actions.
