What is the click action?

The click action allows monity.ai to interact with elements on a webpage by simulating a click before capturing changes. This is useful for monitoring dynamic content that requires user interaction, such as dismissing pop-ups, expanding dropdowns, or clicking buttons to reveal additional information.

How to set up a click action

  1. Go to the Automations tab: In your monity dashboard, navigate to the Automations tab in your monitoring settings.
Automation menu in the task settings showing tabs for settings, automations, adjustments, data, schedule, and notifications.
  2. Add a click action: Click the + button to create a new automation, then select Click from the dropdown menu.

  3. Select the element to click: Use the visual selector (click the cursor icon) to pick an element, or enter the selector manually. CSS selectors and XPath are supported for precise targeting.
  4. Test the click action: Use monity.ai’s preview feature to ensure that the selected element is clicked and the desired content is captured.
  5. Save and activate monitoring: Once configured, monity.ai will automatically click the element before checking for changes.

Tips for using click actions effectively

  • Choose the correct element: If the page has multiple similar buttons, use the visual selector (cursor icon) to select the clickable element or manually provide a CSS selector or XPath for precise targeting.
  • Adjust for loading times: Some elements take time to appear after clicking. If necessary, add a small delay before capturing changes.
  • Experiment with different elements: If the action isn’t behaving as expected, try selecting a different target, such as a parent container.
