Monitoring skills

Alerts for what a screenshot can’t show.

A skill adds one more check to every visit Monity makes to a page: how fast it loads, when its certificate expires, which links broke, what search engines see, whether it still meets WCAG, which scripts it runs and which trackers load before consent. Each comes with alert rules you can tune.

  • 6 skills on the free plan
  • No extra checks used
  • Alerts once per episode
How skills work

One task, one visit, several checks.

  1. 01

    Add skills to a task

Switch them on in the task’s settings, or ask the assistant: “alert me if the pricing page gets slow”. Skills sit alongside the task’s change monitoring.

  2. 02

    Every check measures

Each skill runs inside the check the task already makes, in the same real-browser visit, logged-in pages included. The first check sets the baseline.

  3. 03

    Rules decide when to alert

A threshold, a number of checks in a row, or any change. Each alert goes out once per episode, to the task’s channels, and says which skill and rule raised it.

FAQ

Questions about monitoring skills

What is a monitoring skill?
An extra check Monity runs every time it visits a page: it measures one thing (load speed, the certificate, links, what search engines see, WCAG, scripts, cookies) and alerts you by its own rules. Skills add to change monitoring; a task still tells you when the page itself changes.
Which skills are on the free plan?
Speed & Core Web Vitals, SEO audit, Accessibility (WCAG AA), Broken link checker, SSL certificate & domain watch and Security signals are on every plan, including the free plan. The Script & connection watch, Cookie & tracker watch, external links, WCAG AAA and Page problems need a paid plan or the 7-day Business trial.
Do skills use extra checks?
No. A skill runs during the check the task already makes, in the same browser visit, so it is measured as often as the task is checked: up to every 3 hours on the free plan and as often as every 5 minutes on larger plans.
How do I add a skill to a task?
Switch it on in the task’s settings, or ask the assistant in plain words, such as “alert me if the pricing page gets slow” or “tell me before the SSL certificate expires”. Each skill starts with sensible rules; change any threshold per task.
Will skills flood me with alerts?
They are built not to. The first check sets a baseline, threshold rules wait for a number of checks in a row and then alert once per episode, and change rules alert only on a change from the previous check. A visit blocked by a captcha is skipped rather than compared.
Where do skill alerts go?
To the channels you turn on for the task: email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, Telegram, Google Sheets or a signed webhook, and push notifications in the mobile app. Webhooks carry a skillAlerts list for your own automations.
